Howl-o-ween @ Hadley

October 17, 2009

2009-Hounds-logoThere is a very interesting school for the blind just a couple towns over from where I live – the Hadley School, in Winnetka, IL – and I just found out that they’re having a canine costume party / fund raiser next week. So get your BF to help you with a costume (nothing too embarrassing… I personally have had my fill of goofy bonnets and bows) and get ready to have some fun. For full details and registration information, go to http://wwwhadley.edu/hounds

Location:  Hadley School for the Blind, 700 Elm Street, Winnetka, Illinois
Date:  Saturday, October 24, 2009
Check-in:  7:30 AM
Start:   9:00 AM
Rain or Shine!

Hope you can make it! (For that matter, hope I can, too… gotta go work on my BF to see if we can fit it into the family schedule…)   — Dexter

    Hey Dexter!

It’s your doodle buddy Riley! I’ve been reading your blog for weeks now just waiting to get my paws on the keyboard. Great work! I love reading about your travels and learning what’s really on your mind. Finally I’ve mastered this laptop that’s sitting in my playroom so I can speak out myself. My mom calls it her “office” but it’s really my room with all my toys, my couch, my desk and “her” laptop. Looks like that’s mine now too! :)

Anyway, I wanted to mention another Dog Costume Party that I am going to this year with a few of our mutual canine companions from the park. It’s the Spooky Pooch Parade at The Chicago Botanical Gardens on Saturday, October 31st from 1-3. Here’s the link: http://www.chicagobotanic.org/dog/index.php

It’s the only time the gardens are open to dogs all year! Plus, only dogs and their companions are allowed! Isn’t that great? My family has me all pumped up for it since, all year long they talk about how they wish they could walk me through the beautiful gardens and now I finally get to go!!! I’ll definitely be sporting some cool threads. I know it might sound funny but I don’t mind wearing an outfit for the right cause. A Cubs or a Bears jersey is fine with me now and then. I think my mom’s going to get me a leather jacket and some shades to let the inner rock star in me shine for the parade… but we’ll see. My cousins are going to be Ooompa Loompa’s but uh…that’s not really me.

See you at the park tomorrow!

    Ry
